The following letter comes from a family member that wishes to share with us how the fund has helped in her educational pursuits:
"Four years ago from this coming August, I received a scholarship check from the Webb-Thomas Family Reunion Scholarship Committee. I am the great-granddaughter of Ann Hite and the late Lyle Hite, and it has been a while since I have been able to attend a family reunion. I was looking forward to attending this year in Cleveland, but I could not take off work. My reason for sending this memo is to inform all of you of what I have done since I received our family scholarship. In 2004, I received an Associates of Science Degree in Business Administration from Parkland College, where I had the pleasure of leading my basketball team to the National Tournament (in which we finished 6th, myself earning National All-Tournament Team). After Parkland I was offered several basketball scholarships to Division I and II schools, and ended up going to the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, IN. This past May of 2006, I received my Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Management, earning the honor of Magna Cum Laude which is the second highest academic honor at any university. In August, I will be starting my M.B.A. at the University of Southern Indiana, because I have one year of eligibility left to play basketball. I wanted to thank all of you for helping me get started in college, because it is extremely expensive. When I was entering Parkland, I only had a partial scholarship, and if it hadn't been for our family scholarship and a few other hometown scholarships, my Mom and I would have had to take out several loans. By the grace of God, I have been able to receive my Associates, Bachelors, and ,in a year and a half, Masters, with only a loan of $3500 as opposed to 10's of thousands of dollars. I just wanted to update all of you and let you know that the scholarship went to good use. I am so appreciative that you took the time to help me. I love you all, and hope that I will be able to make another reunion sooner than later."
